Sidcot 1945 to 1951. Deputy Head Boy in Upper Sixth Form. His hobbies included: - stage electrician (in the Meeting House, under the supervision of Richard Hinton, Physics Master). Photography: - developing and printing his own film in the little 'Dark Room' down in the school garden, under the supervision of John Russell (then History Master). First Rugby Fifteen, (games master was Bernard Langdon).
Left Sidcot and studied for BSc in Chemistry at Bradford Technical College (as it was, now a university). "National Service":- applied for "Conscientious Objector" and accepted following his tribunal a two year period spent in Europe under the guidance of the Friends Ambulance Unit, helping with relief work, there he met a girl (later to become his wife,) from Sweden doing similar work. They were married in Stockholm, then moved for a short period of time to Lancashire.
Michael applied for and was successful in achieving a job with "Volvo", hence they moved to live in Sweden, they had a family of two daughters and a son. His wife was a schoolteacher. Michael was involved in several charitable functions, including relief transport to Poland. The couple stayed living in Sweden for their retirement.
