| Reported Deaths |
We received the news that Jean Plant died on Thursday 23rd April, aged 94. Jean was Deputy Head of Sidcot School from 1975 to 1987. She led by example to oversee the care of girl students. She taught Classics and took her classes on outings to sites like Bath and Carleon as well Roman sites in the Mendips like Charterhouse. When an unexpected need arose, Jean and Ken Plant stepped in to act as Houseparents at Newcombe and provide high quality pastoral care. Prior to coming to Sidcot, they both taught at Friends School Saffron Walden. Both Jean and Ken were active members of Sidcot Quaker Meeting. They both sang in the School choir as well as in the Burnham Consort. After retirement to Bledington they continued an active life in the local community, Burford Quaker Meeting and the local choir. After Ken died eight years ago, Jean moved to a care home in Stow-on-the-Wold. Many Sidcotians will have fond memories of Jean.
