Many thanks to Debbie Merrick (nee Brayshaw) Debbie was a scholar at Sidcot from 1957 to 1964. It was a delight to receive a recent letter from her and a specific 'Sidcot' memory relating to the train that bought many Sidcotians to school over the years, affectionately named the 'Cheddar Slug.' A number of students gathered to wish the train farewell on it's last journey into and out of Winscombe station before the line was discontinued. How very Hogwarts..... Platform 9 3/4 anyone?
Debbie's father was also a Sidcotian and Headmaster at the school for many years. Debbie even managed to dig out his old typewriter to share her letter and memories of Sidcot with us. See below.
