Dear Sidcotians
Hugh and his brother Michael Marriage (an old scholar of Leighton Park) have entered their 1958 Morris Minor in the Cape-to-Cape Grand Tour, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. This charity greatly helped their father in his last days and is a wonderful support for anybody suffering from cancer.and as many of you know Douglas Macmillan, founder of the charity was also a Sidcotian.
To find out more about their Tour and the work done by Macmillan for so many, please visit https://macmillan-org.enthuse.com/pf/MarriageBrothers where you can donate directly.
The Tour starts on the 23rd of April at Cape Cornwall, via Cape Wrath in the north of Scotland, to Cape Clear, Western Ireland and finishes back at Cape Cornwall on the 7th May. Hugh’s experience of long-distance driving tours combined with Michael’s engineering and navigation skills should keep their little blue ‘Morri’ on the move and in the right direction.
Over the years, Cape to Cape Tours have raised £920,000 for Macmillan. This will be the last Tour, and participants are aiming to reach £1 million. The most important thing for Michael and I, is that our Morris Minor raises the most money. The brothers are funding their own costs to take part and may incur fines along the way if they are late at time controls. Despite driving the smallest car, with a top speed of just 60mph, they are aiming to come 1st in the money raising stakes.
Please give generously to raise money for this wonderful charity. Thank you for taking the time to read this, we hope we make it!
