Michael was a key member of the Sidcotian community, and (alongside Anthony Baker) organised the Thirty Years On Reunion of the Sidcot School leavers of 1950. He will be fondly remembered for his work over many years as a 'Managing Trustee’ for SOSA (the Sidcot Old Scholars' Association).
Born in Watford in January 1932, Michael was a Prefect and a member of the 1st XV Rugby team at School. He married Sally Ann Matthews (a farmer) at St Leonards, Bucks in June 1960, and had two sons, George and Marcus.
Michael obtained the City & Guilds Certificate for Leather Manufacture from Northampton Technical College and spent two years with F.A.U. International Service (working on the floods on Canvey Island and in Holland, reconstruction in Hamburg, and on the earthquake disaster in Greece). From 1955-68 he worked as a sales representative for Morlands Glastonbury and in 1972, he formed Freeman Reynolds, financial and pensions specialists.
Michael’s health deteriorated over the last couple of years of his life, which he accepted with stoic resignation. His funeral was held on Thurs 12th June at Chiltern Crematorium, Amersham, and was very well attended.
