Alison was born in Bristol on 27th November 1951 to parents Leslie Gordon Reed and Mary Winifred (Jones.) At sidcot between 1962 and 1969, Alison was a regular contributor and comittie member for 'The Island' magazine, she won the Southall Diving Shield, seccured her hockey colours and was in the 1st tennis team. In 1973 Alison completed a Diploma in Art & Design, followed by Silversmithing and an Art Tearchers Certificate.
Alison married John Hart in Bristol on 4th March 1978 and has two daughters Anna and Jessica. Ali lived in Chipping Camden and trained under the designer Robert Welch. One of her commissions was to design the Cheltenham Gold Cup, although it is actually produced in silver.
