Huge congratulations to Sidcotian Peter Hailey, Founder and Director, Centre for Humanitarian Change (CHC) for receiving an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his services to Humanitarian Assistance in East Africa.

During his time at Sidcot, Peter was Deputy Head Boy, Head of School House Boys and a Rugby Captain. Peter's brother Stephen (S:1986 - 1988), sister Tracy-Lee (S:1986 - 1987), father Stuart (S:1955 - 1959), aunt Frances (S: 1959 - 1961), aunt Mary (S: 1960 - 1966) and uncle Stephen (S:1957 - 1962) are also Sidcotians.

Since leaving Sidcot Peter has built a truly international career working with many high profile humanitarian organisations across the globe. Currently the Founding Director of CHC with over 30 years' experience in design, management, and research and evaluation of projects ranging across the development and emergency landscape.

Peter is a Nutritionist and through his extensive experience of managing large scale emergency nutrition programmes in complex emergencies, he has developed expertise in a wide variety of areas. In particular, he has extensive experience in the design of nutrition information systems in emergencies. He has also been a member of the Famine Review Committee of the Integrated Phase Classification system since its inception in 2014. He has managed large scale famine response programmes, and has experience of analysing and researching issues related to famine.  Peter’s many years of programme management with UNICEF and NGOs, principally in Africa, have allowed him to develop into being a thought leader on issues related to resilience, health systems strengthening and risk informed and shock responsive systems.  Peter, through his work at CHC, has built up considerable experience in using Adaptive Learning models and approaches to strengthen, adaptive learning culture in aid organisations and Governments.

On receiving the OBE Peter comments, "As part of a wider team I am pleased that the work of my colleagues and I have been recognised in this way."
